Why the Equilibrist ®?
Balance, or more specifically striking balance (individual, collective, environmental…) is the key to addressing our problems in the early 21st century. Unfortunately, more often than not, imbalance prevails, affecting individuals and their environment in the broadest sense.
Balance, imbalance and crisis
It would be unrealistic and naive to believe or to claim that the major crisis we face is simply financial, economic and social in nature. This unprecedented global crisis is above all a crisis of values and confidence, arising from a loss of meaning and reference, and therefore of balance. Although its most visible manifestations are relatively recent, dating back to 2007, today’s crisis has been brewing for decades. In addition, it affects all sorts of individuals and organisations throughout the world, and no generation goes unscathed.
One thing is for sure: human beings are the primary cause of the human and environmental imbalances that we face today. We must recognise this and assume our responsibilities to restore the balance that we have consciously or unconsciously disturbed.
In various fields, and to varying degrees, instances of imbalance are proliferating at an alarming rate. Imbalance causes suffering around the globe: environmental catastrophes, political and financial scandals, and economic upheavals with their enormous social impacts as well as egotism, ignorance and insecurity.
Each day brings its share of startling revelations fuelling cynicism and undermining morality. Imbalances are everywhere; they are toxic and profound. It is incumbent upon us, at our level, to reverse the trend and take our destinies in our own hands.
Cultivating balance
Individually and collectively, we must develop our ability to cultivate balance in every area of life. In short, we need to learn to behave as “Equilibrists,” tightrope walkers, promoting and defending our values and consistently aligning our actions with them, without compromise or deviation. In this highly competitive, globalised world, subject to the laws of the market, it is simply a question of survival…
The Equilibrist ® supports and encourages individual success, but without ever jeopardising the collective good or balance in general. The Equilibrist ® supports fulfillment, sustainable balance and ethical practices to ensure the future of humanity and our planet and bring about harmony in the world.
The Way of the Equilibrist ®, which we share with leaders, managers and their teams on our training and coaching assignments, makes them aware that respecting balance in all its aspects is the best guarantee of performance.
